This Calligraphy holder is one of two carved in mahogany for Rosamond and a friend studying Calligraphy. Designed by Hugh, it depicts some of the implements and tools used.
The otter and eel are designed as a tactile piece, finished with a silky touch. It was a 60th birthday present for Rosamond.

A Life size carving for use as a low table. Carved in Crack Willow with 25cm (10 inch) carving chainsaw and no other tools were used for the carving.
To avoid the green wood splitting, before carving a large diameter hole was drilled where her belly button now is (and for a second time when the first hole closed up). The crack willow was kept wet to slow down the shrinkage after each carving session. Since these photos were taken, it has been carved further to allow it to sit up without support so that the carving can be seen.
Carved in American Tulip wood for Miranda's guest bedroom which is decorated in the theme of Welsh wizards and dragons, this bedside light depicts a dragon resting on a crescent moon supported by clouds.
